As you start learning how to play guitar, you may be tempted to jump right in and start playing songs that are well beyond your skill level. However, this is generally not a good idea, since consistently failing to master songs may discourage you from continuing to practice. Instead, you should look for easy acoustic guitar songs and this article can help you find them.

Before searching for songs, make sure the guitar you have is right for you. Many people play hand me down guitars and oftentimes, these guitars are not the right size for them. Be sure to find a guitar whose neck is easy for your to wrap your fingers around and whose body you can actually dangle your arm over comfortably.

As a beginner, you may notice that playing the guitar is quite painful for your fingers. This is because the strings on steel stringed acoustics are quite thick and tough. Don't worry though, because as you continue playing, you'll develop calluses and the strings will become worn in.

For some people, the initial pain is too unbearable. If this describes you, try switching to a lighter string gauge or to nylons, but only if those strings make a nice sound with your guitar. Alternatively, try switching to an electric guitar, since they are easier to play.

Oftentimes, the easiest songs to learn are contained in books for beginning guitarists. However, many guitarists, and especially those with very specific musical tastes, may find these songs to be off-putting and annoying. This is where the Internet comes in.

The Internet is filled with websites that provide musicians with free guitar music and tablature. Look for songs that have a simple structure and few chords. Also, open chords are much easier to play than bar chords. Always download songs that are meant for your level of skill.

Some of the easiest songs to play are early Beatles songs. These songs feature very few chord changes and simple melodies. You can also try looking for any other songs which clearly have simple chord structures. As you become more skilled, look for more difficult songs, such as those by Radiohead or those played by metal bands.

Easy acoustic guitar songs are very easy to find if you use the Internet. Use sites that are dedicated to providing people with guitar tab and music to find songs that are easy for you to play.
