By Eva Rhodes

Have you planned a gala arrangement for your birthday party or anniversary? Is that a grand wedding party you are planning for? There are live bands to hire that can make the arrangements complete and the party a major success. With bands to hire, you can also plan for themed parties and have a different feeling altogether.

There are many types of bands to hire, from wedding bands and function bands, to decade bands and genre bands. These bands obviously carry their own style of performing and playing music and you have to pick out the type of band you want according to the theme of your party and also your taste of music. The live music band at your party will turn the mood of the guests in your party.

Going for bands to hire for live performance is better than hiring DJ's provided money is not a problem. While a DJ will provide techno music and similar pre recorded numbers, the music provided by live bands is much more appreciated by the guests of the party. For instance, in a wedding, you can have the band play specific music at specific moments, like romantic songs when the bride is kissing the groom.

Getting bands to hire is a good idea for beach parties or reunion parties where the basic idea is to have fun. A live band playing reggae in a beach party provides a Jamaican ambience along with the fun and frolic plus the Bob Marley effect. Whereas, live psychedelic music such that of Pink Floyd covers provide the perfect ambience for a reunion party.

To know which bands to hire is a process that should be dealt with much care. Sources like websites or yellow pages may be considered but the best way to choose is by reference from friends and family members who have seen the band perform. The bands should be interviewed and hired only after knowing their specialties or their capabilities of playing your type of music.

There are different types of bands to hire from. Some play only for specific programmes, while the others play only a specific genre of music. It is always better to go for function bands when you are having a wedding party or an anniversary and a genre band or a decade band when you are throwing a reunion party, as the situation demands.

When you have finalized which band to hire, sit with them and talk about your necessities and theirs. For instance make yourself clear what should be the theme of the party and what music you would like to have. Take suggestions from the band members and let them know your ideas and if that can be improvised. Decide on the type of music, the genre that is to be played. Will there be only soft rock? Will there be songs for dance? Will there be romantic songs at specific sequences? Decide everything before hand.

Be sure to check out the logistical needs required at the venue, availability of necessary licenses, the facility of stage, dancing floors and other related issues so that there is no last minute rush. With all these done, your party is going to be a major success.
