Post-Hardcore Music With Escape The Fate

By Missy Ray

One of today's bands who are at the forefront of the post-hardcore music scene is Escape the Fate. They are currently enjoying a surge in popularity because of their three albums to date that are being discovered by new fans worldwide. Their fame has reached into the commercial side of the music industry, as they popularized a number of categories or items, even including skeleton gloves.

Does post-hardcore music sound new to you? Well, it's not a new concept and has been around for so many years. To further dine it, post-hardcore music refers to the bands or to the songs that gained popularity after the major surge of the hardcore genre. Of course post-hardcore got its main influence from hardcore music but it also has similarities to other genre, particularly what is called the experimental rock.

Escape Fate was formed in Nevada, USA in 2004 with original members composed of Ronnie Radke as the lead vocalist, Bryan Monte Money lead guitarist, Omar Espinosa rhythm guitarist , Max Green bassist, and Robert Ortiz in drums.

They also went through a couple of band member changes, perhaps only typical with any other popular rock bands. As some might have said, it was a serious of unfortunate events that tainted the band's history but also brought forth some pleasant changes.

One of the first major setbacks they experienced was the sentencing into prison by their lead vocalist, Ronnie Radke. The band later replaced him with Craig Mabbitt.

He was followed by Carson Allen, their one-time keyboardist. Allen left them to join On The Last Day.

In 2007, it was Omar Espinosa's turn to leave. The band cited personal reasons for Omar's unprecedented departure.

To say the least, it is only a normal thing for any band to lose and gain members over a period of time. The only difference is that Escape the Fate experienced these ups and downs during the so far short existence of their band. Add to that fact that some of the band members were going through some drug addiction problems. Something they were able to solve through rehabilitation.

They currently have three albums: This War is Ours, There's No Sympathy for the Dead, and Dying is Your Latest Fashion.

As the band members themselves claim, In the This War is Ours album, the opening track "We Won't Back Down" signifies their hard-partying and hard rocking life as a rock band then based in Las Vegas. The album may also show a hint of the influence of the music from their favorite bands, Motley Crue and Guns N Roses.

Then a few years later, their 'Dying is Your Latest Fashion' album came out. That album was a feat itself for the whole band, after all they were at that time, experiencing a few personal problems. To think that they were able to produce such a good album with all that fuzz between them was truly amazing.

Now Escape the Fate continues on its moving forward into the pantheon of the rock music legend. They have stood the test of time, and even the test that they themselves have brought to their band. But they live on and will continue to create great rock music for all.
