Creating Your Own Beats

By Sarah Lexington

There is definitely a lot more to just producing beats utilizing the default beats that come pre-programmed in some softwares, but rather it is your ability to take the beats and turn them into your own creation that matters. You can indeed do this by taking time to read about some of the things to avoid when beat making...One of such is throwing in too many beats and complicating a potentially simple straight forward beat.

When generating hip hop beats you have to remember that you beats must correspond to the vocal style, so do not just rush through your project. It is a good idea to take time off after you have finished mixing your beats, then come back and listen to it again. The reason it is important to do this, is because fatigue can make a pretty messed up beat sound great to you.

You have to keep in mind that after the vocals have been added you may still need to do some more adjustments to the beats. So making hip hop beats is an art that requires the greatest care and attention to every tiny detail.

As soon as you are producing hip hop beats attempt to listen to other similar tunes and borrow some from them. You must however be aware of the boundary between simply borrowing a beat and copying someone's beats in totality (you don't want to find yourself in a legal battle).

Conclusively, I can tell you for a fact that what differentiates the great beat makers from others is the attention and time they put into allowing their creativity to show. Any person may start creating their own hip hop beats using the correct equipment and knowledge.

Continue to pursue your dreams and you will eventually get there one day. Just make sure you do not quit too soon and keep pushing.
