The Command And Secrecy Of The Acoustic Guitar

By Jimmy Q. Stage

If you have ever noticed someone playing the live guitar, then you know how incredibly powerful and mesmerizing they can be. They seem to be one with their guitar, completely oblivious of everyone else in the room, stadium, or wherever they are as they product a melody and rhythm that transfixed the audience through some deep subconscious communication.

Most of us, after watching such a gifted perform, make a decision to learn an instrument. Then we quickly come up with reasons and excuses why we can't follow through on our dreams. We somehow develop this belief that our dreams are out of reach. But the truth is that they are not. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

People that actually spend the effort to learn an instrument know that the reward they get far exceeds any effort they put into it. The first step always seems the most difficult, but when it comes to playing an instrument, once the first step is crossed, you will be virtually unstoppable.

Far and away the most chosen instrument is the acoustic guitar. If you understand some of the reasons why, then the acoustic guitar becomes the obvious instrument of choice for learning to musically express yourself.

The number one reason that so many choose to play the guitar is that it is incredibly simple to learn enough chords to play along with your favorite song. Most songs you hear on the radio today consist of very few chords, so this is much easier than you may believe. Most people are jamming alongside their favorite bands in a matter of days or even hours.

The second, and obvious reason why the guitar is so popular is that you can take it anywhere you want to go, and you don't need any extra equipment, save a pick, to play it. You can carry it with you wherever you go, and pull it and play it whenever you feel like it. And when you do that, you'll really feel the magic that comes with performing for people.
