What Should Beginner Guitar Lessons Consist Of

By Bill Castle

The arrival of websites such as MySpace and YouTube have given anybody with a webcam an opportunity to upload anything and then call it beginner guitar lessons. That's the scary part many beginner guitarists get confused and frustrated and then unfortunately loose interest and give up.

The main reason that occurs is that there is no clear blueprint or map to follow. Why? Well the lessons are scattered all over the place and don't follow a clear path. The big issue is Not Knowing Where to Begin... Or what you should be working on. Beginner Guitar Players end up jumping to different video lessosn not realizing what they must be taking away with every guitar lessons as well as not realizing if they're even performing the lesson properly.

So what should a beginner guitar lesson program have?

1. A clear path through the core basics of understanding the guitar that builds a good foundation.

2. Personalized lesson plan for each individual student. No two students learn alike therefore no two plans should be alike.

3. Parctical application in the form of songs so you may put to work what you've been learning.

4. Various guitar lessons to choose from. As you progress you will be able to learn new licks, riffs, songs, rhythms etc... So definitely a section dedicated for that.

5. Have a section for the absolute basics i.E. How to replace a guitar, tuning your first guitar, caring for your guitar etc...

6. Practice tools readily available i.E. Metronome - guitar tuner - chord and scale charts etc...

One of the most critical area overlooked by almost every online service is "Live Support" when you get stuck or have a question you don't want to wait, you want help fast! You want to find a guitar lesson website that offers real support, not just forums and email (although those methods are great as well, but you want help fast and not have to wait!
