DJ Turntables

By Isaac Rogers

For a long time people have used turntables to listen to records. People found out that you could manipulate the music by spinning the records off pace on the turntable. And then the DJ was born.

However, just playing around on turntables will not exactly fill a stadium full of people. Learning the fundamentals of turntables, along with a mixer, will give you the skills and techniques one needs to be a DJ or also known as a Turntablist.

By using a turntable, any turntable that is, you can change the tone, pitch and speed which is what makes the sound different, unlike anything else. Each DJ will have their own way of doing things that makes them slightly different from the others.

Creativity with turntables and different characteristics is what separates good DJs from bad DJs. To change these properties and beats around can create a variety of rhythms and sounds.

Trying to explain how exactly one uses turntables can be difficult. There is a significant amount of information. If you are new or wanting to know how to use turntables, research and education are two key components that will guarantee you success.

Having patience and practice are also contributing factors to the understanding of this skill. Besides all of those requirements the biggest would have to be rhythm.

The pace of being a DJ is natural or not. If you do not have the pace you will find it to be a little tough to try to dominate the turntables. So you need to find a a good pace, and it's always about practice.

The rhythm must be there in order for you to turn the tables back and forth, and know how to scratch, and adjust the timing, pitch, volume, and how everything is done quickly and without problems. This makes you a very decent DJ to begin with.

However, if you don't have the pace that is or have never tried using a turntable, seriously, give it a shot. At first, play by yourself and then for some friends. And move on from there. Build your confidence.

Trying is half that battle. Remember that every DJ is bad a first. Even if they tell you otherwise. Not giving up and working hard always pays off.

The sooner you start the faster you'll reach your goals as a DJ. And, the faster you will be playing out and getting paid to entertain.
