The Music And Inspiration Of Sophia Tegart

Sophia Tegart is a well accomplished flutist who performs regularly in solo performances as well as chamber and orchestral music ensembles. She lives in Kansas City, Missouri and is well respected as a teacher in the community. The music she teaches touches lives. Both in her competitive life as well as her educational life she is a woman of great accomplishment.

Ms. Tegart entered numerous competitions and placed well. Some of them include a second place finish and a third place finish in the collegiate woodwind division and the collegiate chamber division in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and the Music Teachers National Association Nation Competition.

Ms. Tegart has taken her educational career quite seriously and now holds several degrees. She holds degrees in music history as well as performance and is currently striving for her DMA in performance at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She has been able to manage a tight performance schedule while completing several degrees and teaching.

The Spokane Symphony, the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra, and the Washington Idaho Symphony have commissioned Sophia Tegart throughout her career to offer solo performances. She has also joined with the Walla Walla Symphony and can be found from time to time playing as the substitute flutist in the Spokane and Eugene Symphonies and the Kansas City Symphony.

While Ms. Tegart most definitely has a passion for the fine performances of the Symphony she is also a contributor to the quest for new fine works. Thus, she is often performing individual pieces of new music. This brings the idea of new classics into light and keeps it there, as the Tegart name carries with it the assumption of opinion. Newly commissioned solo pieces are played to carry forth the inspiration of new music in cohesion with the traditional pieces.

The career of Ms. Tegart is one that has spanned across many different areas. Her continued excellent in performance as well as her dedication to the music industry has brought forth new inspiration. As a teacher she is able to reach those aspiring to be great through example as well as an education that has been founded in long practiced principles of study.

Some of the most impressive names in orchestral music have had the privilege of providing Sophia Tegart with instruction and performance challenges. This experience has brought a certain depth to both her teaching career and her musical performance career. Her fans have expressed their appreciation for the special touch with which she plays the flute.
