Although one often turns to the local or major news network for daily news; Michael Jackson News and news related to other such individuals can often be found more readily on a variety of entertainment networks and websites. As such, one can find a great deal of information on Michael Jackson's childhood, issues with family, his rise as a superstar along with a great deal of current news related to he, his death and his doctor. However, most recently, Michael has been in the news in relation to the first anniversary of his death on June 28th, 2009.
Of course, with the recent anniversary of Michael's sad and untimely passing, recent news has focused on the many stars which have broken down emotionally during performances at Michael's memorial, or in a concert tribute to the singer. For example, one current up to date well known online news magazine suggest that Katherine, Michael's mother is in the process of producing a series of films related to the singer which range from the moment he was born up until the time of his death. In doing so, she is collaborating with Mr. Howard Mann, who is the co-author of Ms. Jackson's coffee table book titled, "Never Can Say Goodbye". As such, while the first film is underway, it will be some time before the project is complete in relation to all such films being produced and released.
Although, unlike the coffee table book, the film will have a great deal of real video footage from various times in Michael's life. As such, Ms. Jackson has afforded Mr. Mann access to a great deal of family footage from which to select images for various scenes of the film, including video footage of their move from Indiana to Los Angeles after signing with Motown Records. In addition, she has also made a variety of old photographs available to him for use in the project as he so desires. To this end, it appears that the project is well underway; However, even when the first film is finished, as there are a series of such movies planned, it will be sometime before the project is truly complete.
Still, while this may be the first film related to Michael's life since his death, it is not the first such film to be released. For "This Is It", while a performance DVD, more than a movie, does a good job at highlighting the star in the times shortly preceding his tragic and unfortunate death at only 50 years old. Therefore, while there is no doubt it does not have as much early coverage of Michael as the films his mother plans on producing, many believe "This Is It", is a movie worth not only seeing, but owning.
While "This Is It", hit the big screen earlier this year and is now out on BluRay and DVD, it is more of a performance video than a movie. Special, yes, due to it being the rehearsals for an upcoming show which never happened due to Michael's death. Still, it is a good portrait of the singer as idol and superstar. While, a series of films about his life, especially those which contain actual video footage of the singer are going to play more like a documentary than a performance.
One can also access a number of live audio and video recordings online, find a great number of CDs, DVDs and Vinyl in both new and used record shops around the country. Although, if one wants to see more current footage, one may want to search on one of the well known music related websites to see which Michael Jackson music one can find. For, there is no doubt there is a great deal of Michael's music and work out there for viewing, its the knowing which one to listen to or watch which may be the most difficult as many find his work so entertaining.
Therefore, while one can no longer see Mr. Jackson live, one need always be grateful that he left such a legacy of music in both audio and video format behind.
