Some Ideas For Having Adventure And Fun In Branson MO

By Jake Nichol

One of the many reasons for taking a vacation is for the rest and relaxation, but there still has to be some excitement to keep things interesting. Branson, Missouri may be known for its live entertainment and characteristic charm, but there are some interesting and captivating activities that are worth considering, too.

Just off Highway 76, at 3330 West Harvey Drive, The Branson Ballknocker is there to offer the excitement of being inside a see-through plastic ball while they launch you down a hill for an upside down ride to be remembered for a lifetime. There is also the Branson Wet Ballknocker filled with just enough water to make for a chilling experience of water splashing around while it takes the same rolling trip down hill.

At lakefront on West Highway 76 is the Ride The Ducks tour, which begins riding inside an amphibious vehicle from WWII. Piloted by licensed Coast Guard Captains, this vehicle winds around local areas of interest and then plunges into the lake for a grand tour of Tablerock Lake, The Showboat, Lake Taneycomo and other items of interest. Filled with facts, fun and even your own "Whacky Quacker" souvenir, this 80-minute tour should impress even the youngest member of the family.

Perhaps one of the most impressive attractions towers above Country Highway 76. Titanic Branson is a two-story building shaped like the Titanic, which is one-half the scale of the original, and filled with several hundred artifacts. Being anchored in the water it looks like the original Titanic docked at sea. The 90 minute self-guided tour is meant to provide guests with the illusion of being a passenger on board the original Titanic.

Along with other interesting displays on the Titanic you might find the Amazing Horse Sculptures of Missouri Artist Rachel Wilson, who sculpted these magnificent life-sized horse sculptures. They each have a name and are corralled in the exhibit for viewing enjoyment and add to the experience of being on the Titanic.

Nature lovers might be very impressed with the 1.5 million acre Mark Twain National Forest, where horseback riding, hiking and bike trails are available along with camping and other activities. Another outdoor experience that can be attended indoors is the Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure. Here you enjoy a 3-D experience with thousands of real live butterflies that flutter around the indoor rainforest.

For those who are interested in a diverse vacation spot, Branson, Missouri has many attractions from which to choose. From the great outdoors to fabulous indoor journeys, there is probably something to please every member of the family.
