Backing Up Fundamentals And Rapidshare Search

By John Wilde

A rapidshare search is a third party service given to those who want to back up their files. Before going fully into this however, the concept of backing up files must be covered especially when it applies to files, documents and such. Since these files are almost always important to a user, they must be preserved and protected, or rather backed up, in one way or another.

Although it is important to back up files, the one thing that is a drawback is space. Most people will press the back up button on their utilities programs not realizing that backup files will also eat up space on the hard drive. Thus the more backup files one makes, the lesser space he or she will have in the long run.

What can be done then is to save the back up files outside of the computer. One can also use CD or DVD burners to save extra copies of important files. A high capacity USB drive can also be used for this purpose. Most importantly however is that these storage mediums should also be kept in a safe place away from dust, moisture and heat.

Since most people are scatterbrains, there will be a time that the storage backups will disappear. This has happened so many times to many people and it can be quite frustrating. The answer therefore is to back up your files online.

Most services online now allow you to upload files to an online server so you can have more space on your PC. Most people do this to share files with others, while others do it purely for backup. The services that allow users to do this sometimes are free, but a paid service will give one more space and faster upload times also.

To make the transition of backing up locally on your PC to using online backup service providers, you will need a fast and reliable connection. This is important for no one likes to wait an eternity to upload megabytes of files. It is also important to note that using an online site entails the risk of data loss due to server crashes or the fly by night web service that suddenly closes its doors. It always pays for a little investigation on the reliability of the service.

There are however a few sites that can give you additional security. And this comes with a fee of course, usually bundled alongside a membership option. These sites make extra backups of your files in the event of the unthinkable happening so you will always be secure.

Once you have chosen your online file service provider, there is an option to share these files with others. This is quite a welcome service given by most upload backup sites. Your files are sorted out by file extensions and categorized accordingly. Unfortunately however, these upload sites do not have their own directory listings. They rely on third party web searchers of their directories, as is the case of filesmore.com for Rapidshare files. These kind of file search services by third party providers have become quite popular and it is up to you which one is best for you. However, there is a latency period of a few hours and sometimes days before the actual contents of a file backup service is accurately listed.
